How to set Alexa to turn on a smart light for a set duration when Ring doorbell is pressed
Today i'm going to show you How to set Alexa to turn on a smart light for a set duration when the Ring doorbell is pressed.
For this routine to work, you will need to have installed a Ring doorbell or a similar device,
as well as smart lights or bulbs, and connected them to Alexa.
After you've done that open your Alexa app.
Then tap on More at the bottom of the screen.
Next tap on Routines.
Tap on the plus icon on the top right side of the screen.
Then tap on "Add an event"
Now select Smart Home
Then choose your door bell, in my case it's called Front door.
Now select doorbell.
Then save
Next tap on "Any time"
And select your active days, active time and Frequency.
For example i will leave active days as everyday and choose active time from 6 pm to 10 pm.
Then tap next
Now tap on Add an action
Then select smart home.
Now tap on the smart light or plug you want to turn on when the doorbell is pressed.
I have a smart light so i will tap on Lights
And select my front door light.
Now tap next
I will choose to power it on.
Then tap next
After the light is turned on, I will include a wait time.
So tap on "Add another action"
Then go to the bottom of the screen.
And select Wait.
For example 5 minutes.
Now tap next
After that tap on Add another action.
Then tap on smart home.
select again your smart light.
then tap next
This time i will select to power it off.
Then tap next.
Now, let's review this routine.
Whenever the front doorbell is pressed between 6 PM and 10 PM, the front door light will turn on for 5 minutes and then turn off.
