Today i'm going to show you how to set Alexa Echo dot to notify you when motion is detected at home.
This can be useful if you want to monitor any motion at home whilst on holiday.
Please note that you need an Echo dot that supports ultrasound motion detection for this feature to work.
My Echo dot 5th generation has this feature so i can use it.
Now to set it up open your Alexa App.
Tap on devices at the bottom of the screen.
Then select your Echo dot.
In my case it's Lounge Echo dot.
Now tap on setting icon on the top right side of the screen.
Then tap on Ultrasound Motion Detection.
Now turn on Ultrasound Motion Detection.
Adjust the sensitivity and the Range.
Now go to the bottom of the page and tap on "Go to Routines"
Now tap on the plus icon on the top right side of the screen.
Then tap on "Add an event"
Select Smart Home
And select your Echo dot.
Now tap on "Occupancy"
And select "People are detected"
Tap next
Now tap on "Add an action"
And select your preferred action.
I will select "Send push notification" to receive a notification on my phone.
Now enter your message.
For example "Motion at home"
Tap next
Next again
then save
All done.
Now my echo dot will now send a notification to my phone when motion is detected.
