The Path tool(Pen Tool) is a powerful tool in GIMP. The rectangle- and ellipse-selections are not very flexible if you happen to need something more special.
And since many of us who have GIMP but don’t have a graphics tablet, it’s not so easy to make the mouse pointer move the way you want. The paths can solve the problem by using smooth mathematical curves instead your own shaky mouse trail.
If you use Pen tool then you can easily change your curve. So I think it is very easy to make curve lines in GIMP

You can use the Paths Tool in the Toolbox to create a curved path, then you can stroke the path.
Click the image below to enlarge it.
When you have finished hit the Stroke button in the Stroke Path dialog. Then in the Tool box, select another tool such as the Move Tool to make the path disappear. And you will be left with a curved line.
You can create any type of curve you want. If you choose a different foreground colour, you can stroke the path with any colour you want.
