Anamorphic Wide Shots - Great Joy 50mm T2.9 with Bmpcc 6K
There's something really nostalgic about shooting wide shots with an anamorphic lens, for me it makes me think of cinema. I've been testing out the Great Joy 50mm T2.9 1.8x anamorphic lens paired with my Bmpcc 6K and I'm really loving this lens. It makes me take a step back and really think hard about composition and framing my shots to help tell the story.
Having that wide cinemascope ratio just allows you to fit so much for in the frame, it's really the ultimate way of drawing you into the opening scene, where your character first begins their journey! These shots can often be static but still have such a big impact on the viewer!
I guess the reason why I love the anamorphic look so much is because it brings back so many good memories of watching movies on the big screen. I think back to those opening wide shot scenes!
For me vertical videos just don't evoke feelings, emotions or any sort of nostalgia and that's why I have no real desire to shoot vertical videos at the moment. I can't imagine ever going to the cinema and watching a vertical video, it just wouldn't feel right!
