Thousands of farmers have rallied in Canberra this morning to protest live sheep export bans, water buybacks, and other issues concerning their “business model.”

Sky News senior political reporter Trudy McIntosh said farmers do not believe the Albanese government is “listening”.

“The trucks are saying hello behind me. They have finally made their way to state circle at Parliament House,” Ms McIntosh said.

“They converged at Goulburn and Yass … they are now starting to move again.

“Lucky farmers are patient people … they are really concerned about the Albanese government’s phase-out of live sheep exports by 2028. They say that’s going to ruin their business model.

“We are going to see a lot of speakers inside Parliament House including the Opposition leader, the Nationals leader, a whole series of people coming out to listen directly to the voice of farmers.

“They don’t believe the Albanese government has been listening to them … it is a very fired-up protest this morning.”
