The mysterious story of the disappearance of three girls in Springfield in 1992
In the southern end of Springfield, Illinois, there is a bar called Kayote. At the entrance at which, a tattered and yellowed from time to time poster with missing people hangs.
27 years ago, when Stokes, the owner of the coffee, glued it, he said he would not remove the poster until the case was solved.
In the summer of 1992, it was one of thousands of posters that were posted in Springfield at grocery stores, hairdressers, gas stations and campgrounds, wherever people could see them. On them in bright yellow letters were written MISSING and scrapped, who begged to help bring home Sherryl Levit, her daughter Susie Streeter and friend Stacy McCall.
Today, more than a quarter of a century after the women in Springfield, this poster on the doors of the Cayote is one of the few surviving examples, it is faded, sad proof that three women disappeared from their home in the southern part of Springfield downtown on clear June mornings.
On June 6, 1992, Springfield High School celebrated graduation, among those who graduated this year were Suzanne Elizabeth, a nineteen-year-old blonde with brown eyes and her best friend, 18-year-old Stacy Kathleen. After the official ceremony at the school, they went to family banquets, and later met another friend named Jamel. They wanted to attend several parties in turn, including one in a nearby town about half an hour away. The girls planned to spend the night in a motel, and then go to the water park and spend the first day of summer vacation there.
