Prendi il tuo amico a quattro zampe, un telo per stenderti sull’erba, un buon libro, e sei pronto per un’esperienza di “turismo lento” unica e suggestiva: la Piana di Vegonno di Azzate.
Riconosciuta come “luogo del cuore” dal FAI, nella Piana puoi assaporare un’atmosfera bucolica e una rara armonia fra natura e ambiente rurale.
Area verde, incontaminata e molto vasta, evoca la rara bellezza della campagna Toscana. Viene nominata “valle dei filosofi” perché invita ad abbandonarsi al passeggiare senza meta e al libero flusso dei pensieri.
La Piana non è altro che un pianoro posto su un “cordone” morenico fra la Valbossa e la Vald’Arno. Fa parte del “Parco delle Piane”, costituito dalle numerose piane del territorio: Vegonno, Montonate, Crugnola, Daverio e Vinago.
Raggiungere la Piana è molto semplice. Si trova a pochi chilometri da Varese, in una piccola frazione del paese di Azzate, Vegonno, antico centro agricolo con le sue corti lombarde, sviluppato attorno alla piccola chiesetta dedicata a San Giorgio.
Puoi comodamente lasciare la macchina in via XXV Aprile, proprio ad Azzate, o presso la Fattoria Canale, che si trova sulla Strada Statale 17, tra Azzate a Mornago. Dopo alcuni minuti di cammino, si apre alla vista un incantevole pianoro erboso, attraversato da una stradina che segna un percorso ad anello.
Intorno, solo campi coltivati a grano e segale e casali di campagna. Il percorso è pianeggiante, e la stradina asfaltata o in terra battuta (ideale per un rilassante giro in bicicletta). Puoi scegliere di variare il percorso della passeggiata addentrandoti nell’area boschiva limitrofa.
La Piana di Vegonno è straordinaria in ogni stagione, con un arcobaleno di colori che muta nell’arco della giornata con il trascorrere delle ore.
In primavera e in estate è un tripudio di colori vividi e profumi intensi, mentre in inverno, sotto la neve, una cartolina imbiancata da cui svettano maestosi gli alberi centenari. In autunno l’area boschiva è ideale per alternare alla passeggiata la raccolta delle castagne.

Recognized as a "place of the heart" by the FAI, in the Piana (plain) you can savor a bucolic atmosphere and a rare harmony between nature and the rural environment.
An uncontaminated and very vast green area, it evokes the rare beauty of the Tuscan countryside. It is called the "valley of the philosophers" because it invites you to abandon yourself to aimless strolling and the free flow of thoughts.
La Piana is nothing more than a plateau placed on a moraine "cord" between the Valbossa and the Vald'Arno. It is part of the "Parco delle Piane", made up of the numerous plains of the area: Vegonno, Montonate, Crugnola, Daverio and Vinago.
Reaching the Piana is very simple. It is located a few kilometers from Varese, in a small fraction of the town of Azzate, Vegonno, an ancient agricultural center with its Lombard courts, developed around the small church dedicated to San Giorgio.
You can easily leave your car in via XXV Aprile, right in Azzate, or at the Fattoria Canale, located on State Road 17, between Azzate and Mornago. After a few minutes of walking, an enchanting grassy plateau opens up to the view, crossed by a small road that marks a circular route.
All around, only fields cultivated with wheat and rye and country houses. The route is flat, and the road is paved or dirt (ideal for a relaxing bike ride). You can choose to vary the route of the walk by entering the neighboring wooded area.
The Piana di Vegonno is extraordinary in every season, with a rainbow of colors that changes throughout the day as the hours go by.
In spring and summer it is a riot of vivid colors and intense scents, while in winter, under the snow, a whitewashed postcard from which centenary trees rise majestically. In autumn, the wooded area is ideal for alternating chestnut picking with a walk.
