He explained that while regular chemotherapy can be prolonged and with minimal immediate impact—bone marrow transplant is fast-paced and intensive.
The entire bone marrow transplant process spans about 15 to 20 days. Initially, healthy cells are harvested from the patient’s body. This is followed by a high-dose chemotherapy regimen over six to seven days. By the 13th or 14th day, the harvested cells begin to regenerate, and by the 15th or 16th day, the patient is ready to go home, free from cancer.
