Bose-Einstein statistics was developed by Prof. Bose to deduce Planck’s radiation formula. Considering a photon gas in an enclosure at a fixed temperature the occupation probability which represents the average number of particles per quantum state, is obtained by taking chemical potential of the photon gas to be zero. Taking the two distinct polarization states of the photon, the density of states is found and then the energy density of the electromagnetic radiation is obtained in the given frequency range.
