I have a photo of the deer that I'd like to get into the image of the forest, which is my second image. I would obviously like to do it the way that no one would ever know it was photoshopped, so the first important thing to do is to mask the deer out of the original background. I can't stress this enough but it's really important to mask it out properly so take your time. I used quick selection and then refined it using the tools in the masking window which you can see me working in right now. As you can see the footage is sped up, this is because I took my time for this, and you should too. Oh dear, that took me a few minutes but here is our deer in our new forest - looking pretty bad still. Firstly, place it where you'd like it to be and then compare the colors of the images that you try to combine. As you can see in my example the forest is way more saturated and more contrasty in comparison to the deer, so I went ahead and added a few adjustment layers to match the colors. I also slightly changed the color temperatures because forest image had warmer colors before. The next thing we need to take care about is the lighting. I'm in luck about that because in both of my pictures, light is coming from the left direction so it naturally kinda matches, but using brightness adjustment layer, I brightened up some more areas on the deer to match it even better. If you'd like you can blur the background for a more professional look of an image by selecting the background layer and going to filter, blur, gaussian blur. Blurring the background that much, it would only make sense to blur some parts of the deer slightly as well. I grouped all the layers, made a copy and converted one group to a smart object. This way, I always have a backup if I'd like to go back to this point at any time. Hide the backup group and apply the blur effect to the smart object layer. this way we can blur only some of the parts using the smart filter mask. I decided to blur his, khm, tail, to leave focus to his head. And of course, I had to remove the overlying grass on the legs from the original picture, that would be an amateur mistake not to do it.
