If you have Android 15 installed on your device then there's a setting you can enable that will help to boost performance by around 5% to 10%.

This feature is tucked away within the hidden Developer Option menu, and once enabled, the operating system will use about 9% more RAM in exchange for an increase in performance.

If you're not familiar with page size handling, then that's completely understandable.
Most CPUs today are made to support a 4KB page size, and this is true on Android as well. This means the apps that are running on the device have to be optimized for that specific size.

These CPUs have dedicated hardware within them called Memory Management Units, aka MMUs, which translates addresses from what an app is using to a physical location in the memory.

This translation is done on a page-size basis so every time an app needs more memory the operating system does work by filling out a “page table” entry and then assigning that piece of memory to a process.

With this increase in page size from 4KB to 16KB, the operating system spends 4 times less doing this extra work.

On Android 15, Google has been reworking the operating system from the ground up to support running at different page sizes.
Which results in the operating system being page-size agnostic.

Developers will need to recompile their apps so that they can take advantage of this increase in page-size on supported devices.
But the apps can be made to work on both 4KB and 16KB devices.

So starting with Android 15 QPR 1 Beta 1, Google is letting supported Pixel devices test out this new feature as a way for developers to work on the transition and test their applications.

But you can make this switch on your device right now, as well.
It does require a factory data reset, since Android needs to setup an extra kernel to leverage the change.
But it is easily accessible by first enabling Developer Mode on your device.
This can be done by tapping on the build number entry within the About Phone section of the Settings app about 7-10 times.

Once Developer Mode has been enabled, you can find the newly revealed Developer Options page from within the System menu of the Settings application.

From here, we just need to scroll down a bit until you find the Boot with 16KB Page Size toggle.
This is going to be disabled by default but we can start this process with a simple tap.
As mentioned, this will require a factory data reset, so be sure to read through this warning screen here.
And if you're ready to proceed, then tap on the Erase All Data option

You'll see the phone reboot, so that it can format the phone and set it up with support for 16KB Page Size

Once you're back up and running, all of your apps should run just as you would expect.
Google has said all of the pre-installed apps within Android 15 are now 16KB aligned
And file-systems like EROFS and F2FS are ready with 16KB page size use as well.

So you should be able to see the benefits when using these apps and services.
However, we do need to remember that 3rd-party apps will need to be updated to support 16KB page size handling before they can benefit from this change. All of your apps should work like normal, as 4KB page size handling is still supported.
But they won't be able to take advantage of this improved performance until they have been updated to support it.

It feels like this is going to be a slow transition for Android as they've put in a lot of work to make the operating system page-size agnostic.

But making this change is said to reduce application launch times while the system is under memory pressure.
This should reduce power draw during application launch times.
The camera application itself is also said to get a boost when being launched from both cold starts and hot starts.
And Google is seeing improved system boot times as well. Getting almost 1 second faster boots on average.
