1st Look at Alleged Google Pixel 9a [Android News Byte]

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to another edition of the Android News Byte.

Today, we have a couple of leaked images out of a private Facebook group that claim to reveal the design of the upcoming Google Pixel 9a smartphone.
If true, we can see from this first image that there will be a single-firing speaker at the bottom.
On the other side, you can see this is where the sim card slot is being placed.
Which actually makes a lot of sense and helps to give it a sense of symmetry.
But it's this second photo where we get to see a bigger change in design.
Google's Pixel design team has stuck with a visor style since its inception.
The first three iteractions replaced the top section with glass to help improve reception
But ever since the Pixel 6 was released, they switched to protruding camera bar design that made it very easy to tell it was a Pixel with a quick glance.
If this photo does indeed give us a first look at the upcoming Pixel 9a smartphone, then it looks like that protruding design is changing.
What we see here is a camera design that looks more in line with what we have with the Pixel 8
But one that does not stick out from the phone.
I know that protruding design has not been for everyone, so maybe the release of the Pixel 9a will help to bridge the gap.
The rear camera does have a small raised bump around the edge, but nothing compared to what we've seen in the past.
It makes me wonder if that's due to a regression in camera hardware. . .or just a change in the overall design of the device.
It's possible that Google feels less pressure to make the rest of the phone extra slim in their mid-range series compared to their flagship phones.
This image is rumored to have been uploaded to the private facebook group by a Google employee
but as with all rumors, we should take it with a grain of salt until we have something more substantial to go on.
