How to Crop Images in WordPress
Learn the 3 ways to crop images in WordPress:
1. freehand with your cursor
2. enter an aspect ratio (16:9)
3. use exact pixel dimensions
Crop Images Freehand
*Important: You have to select an area on your image first, before the crop button becomes available.
Click & hold down your mouse, drag an area overtop your image, and release. Now you can move that rectangle around, or simply click the crop button to crop it.
Crop Images by Aspect Ratio
If you’d like an image to be a specific aspect ratio—for example, 16:9—you can enter it into the boxes on the right side of the screen. Now when you drag a rectangle over your image, it will be forced to this aspect ratio.
Crop Images by Exact Pixels
If you have an exact image size in mind, you can enter the exact width and height of your image, in pixels. Be sure to drag an area on top of your image first. Then head over to the right and enter your exact dimensions in the Selection text boxes. The selection on your image will be updated to reflect these new dimensions. And when you’re ready, click the crop button.
Important!
Always remember to click Save at the bottom, before exiting out of the image editing screen.
