Learn how to change your domain name in Google Search Console.
You can go from old-domain.com to new-domain.com and not lose any SEO or Google rankings. Use the "change of address" tool in Google Search Console to tell Google about your new domain. You'll want to setup 301 redirects before you begin.
CHANGE YOUR DOMAIN IN GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE
1. Setup 301 redirects
2. Add & verify both domains in Google Search Console (use the "Domain" property type)
3. Navigate to your OLD domain
4. Settings → Change of Address
5. Select your NEW site in the dropdown
6. Click "Validate & Update"
7. Once you've passed the validations, click "Confirm Move."
8. Continue to monitor both the old and new domains in Search Console. Keep an eye out for any crawl errors or issues with the sitemap. (make sure you've added a sitemap for your NEW domain)
Google will give preference to your new domain for 180 days. Reach out to sites that link to your old domain and ask them to update them to your new domain.
