President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. affirms the Administration’s commitment anew in providing energy security and promoting renewable energy in the country as he graces the presentation of the 160-Megawatt Wind Farm in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on May 19, 2023.
Spearheaded by ACEN, the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group, the Pagudpud Wind Farm is currently considered the largest wind farm in the country comprising of 32 wind turbine generators capable of producing five (5) megawatts each. It is projected to power over 123,000 homes and avoid around 340,000 metric tons of carbon emission annually.
At present, Phase 1 of the Pagudpud Wind Farm has been completed in the first quarter of 2023 and is operating at 80 megawatts. Full operation of the 160 megawatts is expected to be completed no later than December 2025 under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).
