The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) successfully hosted the Philippines-Indonesia Creative Economy Roundtable at the Sheraton Hotel in Pasay City on August 28, 2024.
Organized under the Malikhaing Pinoy Program of the DTI-Competitiveness and Innovation Group (CIG), the event highlighted the importance of Indonesia as a key partner of the Philippines in advancing the creative economy agenda bilaterally and within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the coming years.
It featured three (3) panel discussions, each with guest speakers from both the Philippines and Indonesia, focusing on 'Foundations for Philippines-Indonesia Creative Economy Cooperation,' 'Fostering Innovation: Lessons and Insights on Creative Economy Research' and 'Enabling Industry-led Collaboration on the Creative Economy.'
These discussions aim to share greater opportunities and benefits of Philippines-Indonesia creative economy cooperation, exchange best practices on creative learning programs, identify innovative perspectives through research projects and developing policy recommendations to support the growth of the creative economy partnership.
To this end, both countries expressed their optimism that the Forum will serve as a catalyst for collaboration, innovation and sustainable development in the creative industries to foster economic cooperation and strengthen cultural relations between the two nations.
The Philippines-Indonesia Creative Economy Roundtable is a fruition of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Cooperation in the Development and Promotion of the Creative Economy which was signed by former DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual with Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy during the State Visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to Indonesia on September 5, 2022.
