Synopsis: Locked high in a hidden tower, Rapunzel longs for adventure as she wonders, “When Will My Life Begin?” Kidnapped as an infant by the duplicitous Mother Gothel – who craves the power of Rapunzel’s magical golden hair – the princess is now an imaginative and determined teenager. When the dashing but infamous bandit, Flynn Rider, takes refuge in her tower, she persuades him to take her to see the lanterns that appear in the sky each year on her birthday. The unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse named Maximus, an over-protective chameleon named Pascal, and a gruff gang of pub thugs. With the secret of her royal heritage hanging in the balance, Rapunzel and Flynn make a host of hair-raising narrow escapes on their journey to see the light.

Trivia:
• Frames: 144,000
• Music is by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater.
• Adapted from the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale.
• The working title of the film was Rapunzel.
• Rapunzel’s hair was such a significant element of the film that it was treated as its own separate character. To investigate the realistic movement of hair, animators watched shampoo commercials on YouTube and observed a model with six feet of hair. To animate Rapunzel’s hair, 147 different tubes were used for structure of the hair and rendered into and up to 140,000 individual strands of hair.
• In animating Flynn Rider, the computer-generated movements of the character raised the bar for human animation; the character moves more realistically than previous human characters.
