The Tunnel & The Not So Great Escape - The Walk Snippets - St Lawrence, Isle of Wight
This snippet is taken from a walk me and my Dad did in the summer of 2023.
We walked from Merston to Ventnor West on the former Newport, Godshill & St Lawrence Railway, on the Isle of Wight.
The railway closed in 1952, but despite the many decades out of use, we found tonnes of remains along the route.
The best of which being the 600 yard St Lawrence (High Hat) tunnel, which comes with a rather amusing story of a daring prison break... gone wrong.
