Hello guys namaste, welcome back to AndroTrix, OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 5T and I'm really happy to see them keep the same price as the OnePlus 5. You already saw the title, so I would like to inform you that this is a brilliant phone but here are few things which might want you to reconsider buying it.
No Water resistance.
One thing which I wanted on OnePlus devices since the 3T is the water resistance. This phone says it out loud that its competition with the best in the market and if you see every premium device is ip65+ water resistant. Changes of using it are very less but when you are at a waterpark and bring that phone out in water, it's an awesome feeling and I feel 6 should come up with it.
No QHD display
OnePlus supports a 1080p display on all the smartphones they have launched and its about time they make the jump to QHD. Yes I agree, the existing display on OnePlus 5T is pretty lit but Samsung, pixel, iPhone everyone has made the switch to 2k displays and I'm sure Oneplus is going to do it sooner or later.
No oreo out of the Box
Oneplus really made a bad move by not adding the Oreo update out of the box for the Oneplus 5T, it comes with Android Nougat based on oxygen OS 4.5. The fact that my Oneplus 3T is already on Oreo and they didn't think of adding it to their latest mode is really stupid! Now because of this, Oneplus 5 will only update to android oreo and android P as that would be the two os updates.
Fingerprint at the back
Now I have mixed feelings about the move to shift the fingerprint at the back, it's really awesome to have that big 18:9 display, as well as the face unlock, is unbelievably fast! but there are times when you just wished is fingerprint wasn't moved at the backside and that my friend could be a deal breaker for someone.
It'll get outdated within few months
This is something which I don't understand about Oneplus as a company. If you are paying a premium price for a device then you don't want it to be obsolete within 6 months. its pretty obvious that you would want to have that flagship experience throughout the year but oneplus has been releasing new devices every 6 months with better specs and very subtle increase in the price. My brother got the Oneplus 5 3 months back and now there's already a better version in the market and that feeling, well it really hurts.
Other minor reasons which you should also think before buying is that the smartphone doesn't have an OIS support, it comes with EIS along with that I had a very bad experience with the one plus service center and well whenever you plan to buy a device just wait for a month or so because there'll be something new already out there like the star wars edition which is gonna release on 14th
