How to upgrade your old touchpad to a Precision Touchpad - ELAN Precision Touchpad Driver
Hello everyone! Today I'm gonna show you how to upgrade your touchpad. What do I mean by upgrading? You can upgrade your old touchpad to a Windows Precision Driver one. This enables all the gesture settings in Windows 11 and makes them much smoother. In simple words, it makes your touchpad feel like you're using a touch screen.

🧐 Steps:
1. Before starting, make sure you have a spare mouse close, because your touchpad may stop working during this process.
2. Download the Precision Driver.
3. Run the downloaded setup file.
4. Do the usual Next, Next, Accept the agreement.
5. When asked if you want to install or extract, click on Extract Only. Next.
6. Copy the shown directory. Extract.
7. After the extraction is done, click on Finish.
8. From the taskbar search menu, search of Device Manager and open it.
9. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" option.
10. Right click on "ELAN/Synaptics/Alps pointing device" and then click Properties.
11. Go to "Driver" and click on Update Driver.
12. Click on "Browse my computer for drivers".
13. Click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".
14. Click on "Have Disk...".
15. Paste the previously copied directory and click on Browse.
16. Select the first ".inf" file and click on Open.
17. Click OK.
18. Select the Model and click Next.
19. An "Update Driver Warning" will pop up. Don't worry and click on Yes.
20. After the drive is installed, close the tabs.
21. A pop up will show asking to restart the device. Click Yes.
22. After the restart your touchpad should've stopped working. Connect an external mouse.

Note: If your touchpad is actually working, it means that your laptop was fully compatible with the driver. You don't need to follow the upcoming steps.

23. From the taskbar search menu, search of Device Manager and open it.
24. Click on "View" and enable "Show hidden devices".
25. Search for the hidden touchpad driver in the list.
26. Right click on it and click on Properties.
27. Go to "Driver" and click on Update Driver.
28. Click on "Browse my computer for drivers".
29. If it's not already there, paste the directory from before. Next.
30. Close the tabs and restart the device.
31. Congrats! You have upgraded your old touchpad to modern precision one!

Note: If your touchpad still is not working or the installation failed, unfortunately your laptop is not compatible at all with the precision driver. To go back to your old driver:
I. Connect an external mouse.
II. From the taskbar search menu, search of Device Manager and open it.
III. Click on "View" and enable "Show hidden devices".
IV. Search for the touchpad driver in the list.
V. Right click on it and click on "Uninstall device".
VI. Enable "Delete the driver software from this device" and click Uninstall.
VII. Close the tabs and restart the device (probably twice).
