Forgiving Faults and Finding Balance
No matter where we stand on issues, we should remember the common bond which we all share, and continue to celebrate the things which have brought loveliness into our lives. Times may not be perfect - but this is in many ways the most incredible and enlightened time in history.
The Pendulum will swing right, and left - it is inevitable. It is a force of Nature. And I do believe the political Pendulum is swinging right. But at the same time, there is a yin and yang, a need for all perspectives to have their time in the sun. No idea should prevail forever unchecked.
There will come a time when far right extremism will have to be addressed. Being a true neutral is all about being willing to switch sides periodically, because the goal is not to make one side win - it is to make both sides balanced.
We all share a common bond. We want freedom, peace, and safety for all people. Even the ones who are obnoxious or who see things differently. That's why it is so important to look at the big picture - and know you can love something, without loving everything about it.
What inspires you? To me, National Strength inspires me. A strong sense of place, a sense of establishment, a sense of pride in something deep and meaningful. And as we cast our votes and live our lives, we should always look at things through the lens of what inspires us - not what we oppose.
The Gender Gap between men and women is something that we are going to have to reconcile. The patriotism gap between the left and the right is something we are going to have to heal. And I'm not sure how we do these things, outside of a major catalyst like a disaster that brings everyone together. A big part of it is just understanding we aren't all enemies. We need each other - and we need each other to be opposites. Opposite genders, opposite roles, opposite interpretations of life.
But ultimately in conclusion, I think it's a blessing to be alive right now, to see the kind of innovations we are able to witness, to be armchair witnesses to the dawn of the computer gaming industry, to see what we get to see… it's an incredible time, and we shouldn't get so lost in the weeds that we think less of it.
