How to Install and Configure Peerblock
In this video, I'm going to show you how to download and install an application called PeerBlock. It is referenced as an open source firewall but really it isn't a firewall like other firewalls. All PeerBlock really does is filter a massive black list of known bad IP addresses and prevents your system from communicating with those bad IP addresses.
The developers created Peer Block under the GPL license and PeerBlock is actually a continuation of the Peer Guardian application.
Again this is a black list based application which is a preventative measure. Blacklists can be bypassed but it still blocks over 900 million known bad addresses which isn't a bad thing either. This application can run along side any firewall you have installed on your system as this isn't really a true firewall or firewall engine but is rather an IP BLACK LIST system.
