How to Configure, Optimize, Install Software, Update, and Secure Your Linux Mint 18 Install
In this video, I'm going to show you many things. The biggest thing is setting up some security for the system including updates/patching. Many have themselves falsely convinced that Linux isn't susceptible to malware aka viruses. This isn't true as there are still quite a bit of malware out there for Linux just not as much as Windows.
The biggest thing you can do is make sure you have a firewall, antivirus, and updates down.
I also go over how to install software and configure the system for every day use. (This works for all Desktop Environments of Linux Mint)
Commands Used:
To elevate to Super User: $ sudo su
To update the repository List: # apt-get update
To update installed software: # apt-get upgrade
To update distro packages: # apt-get dist-upgrade
To Install software: apt-get install skype
To add a repository: add-apt-repository ppa:(repository name)/ppa
