Let's get started.
Number five! The Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio Texas. Just looking at this building you can tell it is a creepy place! The Emily Morgan Hotel was constructed in the gothic restoration style, the building has 13 floors total, and it actually has gargoyles! Not only does it stand right next door to The Alamo which is said to be haunted as well, but it was also built on top of the site where the Long Barracks of The Alamo occurred in 1836.
The Emily Morgan was intended to be a Medical Arts Building, housing its own crematorium and a morgue where dead bodies were stored, and then burned. The building was enormous to such an extent that it could house many specialists and doctors. It was known as one of the top hospitals for quite a long time, until it was closed in 1976, when it was then turned into an office building. Then 10 years after that, it was turned into the Emily Morgan Hotel.
With such a background marked by slaughter, it's nothing unexpected that The Emily Morgan Hotel acquired a standing for being quite possibly one of the most spooky spots in Texas. The whole place seems to be haunted, but some of the more notable spots in the hotel are the basement, the fourth, seventh, twelfth, and the fourteenth floor.
The basement was the location of the crematorium and the morgue, so you can guess how dreadful it is to be down there. Just staff are permitted in this area, and many say they do not like to go there alone. Workers have reported that they have seen weird lights, and heard shouts and voices, and some have even reported the smell of burnt skin.
Those hoping to have a spooky encounter during their visit are urged to book on the seventh floor as it is reported to have some of the most remarkable activity. Various staff and visitors have seen the ghost of a bride, yet no one understands what her association with the lodging is, or why she is trapped on the seventh floor. Numerous visitors have left and checked out in the middle of the night after having reported strange scratches on their bodies, seeing blood stains appear that were not previously there, and being awoken by a woman screaming bloody murder! Some guests even report seeing this mysterious brides appearance in the mirror or coming through the walls.
The twelfth and fourteenth floors were where the operating rooms were located, and these were not your typical modern-day operating rooms. There are findings that suggest that some very controversial medical experiments and trials were done on a variety of patients on these floors. Visitors have said that they smell a strong hospital and chemical smell in their rooms. Some report hearing what sounds to be medical equipment and metal wheels yet when they peer out into the hallway they see nothing there.
Whatever your reason to stay at this haunted hotel is, its just best that you take note of the spirits that may dwell there before booking your scary stay.
Number four! The Jefferson Hotel in Jefferson Texas. This town is overflowing with sightings of phantoms and creepy legends, however this hotel is certainly all the rage. Initially constructed in 1851 as a cotton warehouse, The Jefferson is supposed to be perhaps one of the most spooky hotels in the entire country.
Some of the phantoms prowling here have been said to toss objects at travelers and even lock them in their rooms. This is just the beginning though. Other visitors have claimed to hear banging on the walls and doors at night, and footsteps up and down the corridors.
Some say they can hear kids laughing, entryways opening all alone, voices reverberating in empty rooms, dishes moving suddenly, TVs turning on and off, and belongings tumbling from their place without being touched!
Workers say that a large portion of the hauntings seem to come from Elizabeth, a 19-year-old bride who hung herself in the hotel on her wedding night. If you have any desire to stay here, make certain to keep one eye open...
