You can still have fun, even though you try to stop your mic from picking up keyboard noise and it's a TOTAL BOMB!!
Here's why you should YouTube even though this stuff fails sometimes!!

Nobody wants to hear the click-clack of your keyboards in the background.

You would not want to drive your audience nuts with that repeated background noise. It’s distracting and annoying to listen to and steers people away from actually enjoying your video.

If this is something you’ve been wanting to fix but don’t know how, here are quick and dirty tips on how to stop mic from picking up keyboard noise. Make your microphone sound better and put an end to your headset mic picking up keyboard noise once and for all!

3 Tips for Better Mic Sound Quality

1. Silent keyboard is the way to go.

This is a no-brainer. If you want to know how to reduce keyboard noise when recording, then you should switch that noisy keyboard with something quieter. Mechanical keyboards have switches underneath individual keys. It’s these switches that give that unique feel and tactical feedback as you type away.

But yeah, with extra noise as the trade-off. Not that fun…

I would go for a quieter and recording-friendly switch type such as the brown, black, or red switches. Ditch your old green or blue switches that are notorious for their background noise.

YES, there’s a noticeable reduction to the noise but it won’t completely eliminate the sound. Still, a little improvement in the noise quality goes a LONG way.

2. Reduce the sound produced by your mechanical keyboard.

Let’s say you don’t really want to get a new keyboard because your old one is still working, or you don’t have a budget for a new one, etc. No biggie - you can still silence it using a few quick steps.

Get yourself those tiny silicone O-rings and install them on the stems of the keycap. These rings are effective in stopping the stem from hitting the plate of your keyboard each time you press the keys down.

The result?

Clicking background noise removed!

It’s just a bit of a job to install individual caps because you need to remove them all, install the rings, then replace the caps. But hey, it’s much cheaper than buying a new keyboard, and it definitely works!

3. Do something about your mic setup.

If you don’t want to buy a new, less noisy keyboard AND/OR you’re not quite feeling the O-ring idea, there’s still one more hope for you. Sometimes, all it takes to improve mic quality and remove background noises is by working on your mic setup.

Set up your mic in a way that will eliminate background noise with a huge impact. See, microphones come in various sizes and shapes. They also have their specific directionality, or the direction in which the mic picks up sound best.

You want to set your mic in a direction that it directly faces you. Then, your mouse and keyboard should be behind the mic.

When positioned this way, your mic only picks up your voice and less of those annoying typing noises. This is true with a unidirectional microphone on your desk.

If you’re using a headset mic, bring it closer and directly towards your mouth. This reduces the keyboard noise but MAY pick up breathing noises. In this case, you want to position the headset past the corner of the mouth and not in front of your nose.

So there you have it - 3 easy ways on how to reduce background noise when recording and improve mic quality. Whether you want to buy a new keyboard, muffle the clicking sounds with some silicone O-rings, or just arrange your mic setup, you can definitely step up your recording with your background noise problem solved with these easy tips!
