Often, when producing a hybrid event like a corporate meeting, it’s necessary to connect to virtual meeting software such as Skype, Zoom, Teams, etc. It can be challenging to have to deal with audio from both in-person and online participants. In this demonstration, Nico Suárez will show you how to manage audio for events with conference calls using the Roland VR-4HD. This process can also be replicated using the Roland VR-1HD.
First, ensure you have the correct settings in your software, checking the audio source and video settings. Then, identify the different sources on the audio mixer. You can create separate audio streams for your in-room speakers and the audio that will be sent into your computer. You can also adjust the volume level just for the stream if needed. Don’t worry, the audio coming from the computer will never be fed back into the computer, avoiding a closed loop. This way, the audio streams are separated and do not produce feedback.
There are also two additional features that help with hybrid event production—auto mixing and echo cancel. The auto mixing function allows the main speaker to be the only audio present. Echo cancel eliminates any echo created by microphones that are close together. Using this knowledge and an all-in-one solution for hybrid events, like the Roland VR-4HD or VR-1HD, you’ll have the tools you need to solve audio challenges you may face.
