A black hole located in a distant dwarf galaxy ripped apart an unlucky star according to a study published in Nature Astronomy. The dwarf galaxy is one million light-years away from our planet. Astronomers were completely unaware of the presence of this intermediate-mass black hole. It was only after the black hole ate a gigantic star that they discovered its presence. Scientists from the University of California at Santa Cruz conducted this space study recently.
