🔍 Part 39: Adding Notches
To add notches to matching patterns or panels, start by selecting one of the grouped panels with the selection tool. Move it into position so that it touches the matching panel. Then, use the line tool and click anywhere on the page. Input double the length of your desired notch. For instance, if you use about a one centimeter seam allowance, enter a two centimeter length for the notch.
Next, roughly define the angle of the notch and click OK. With the selection tool, click and drag the center of the notch to where the panels meet. Rotate the notch to ensure it is at 90 degrees to the pattern and aligns correctly.
After this, cut the notch in half. The scissor tool can be used to add more notches to these matching pattern pieces. Simply select both notches, copy and paste the notch, and then move it to another part of the line.
Finally, select one of the panels and its corresponding notch using the selection tool, and click on 'Object group'. Repeat this process for the remaining panel. This way, you can move your pattern pieces around, and the notches will remain in place.
