👗 Master Digital Pattern Making in Adobe Illustrator! 👗
🔍 Part 29: Creating a point
To create a point, select the ellipse tool and click on the page. Add the width and height of the ellipse. I recommend using 0.8cm width and 0.8cm height. Click ok. Next, using the Type tool, click next to the point and type “0”. You can increase the font size using the selection tool. Just click and drag its corner. Next, move the type into position close to the point. Select both point and text with the selection tool. Click object and group or CTRL G on your keyboard.
You can copy and paste as many points as you like. Select the point with the selection tool, hit CTRL C then CTRL V.
Points are incredibly useful when draft patterns from scratch or when creating panels from existing blocks.
A point defines a location on your pattern, and they can be moved by a specific measurement.
We will discuss the function of points and how to use them in more detail later in the series.
