In software we have lots and lots of checklists like whether we followed coding convention or not, created object or not, used design patterns or not, written unit test cases or not, code is peer reviewed or not and much more.

While checklists are necessary to serve as a reminder for us to do the right thing, but in this video, I've tried to reason that purely banking of checklists are detrimental to individual creativity and intelligence.

I've also made a distinction between using a system and creating a system. while using a system can totally bank of checklists, creation of a system may not be focussed on checklists. If we're focussed too much on checklist then we're not focussing on the problem we're trying to solve and there is a perception that even if the outcome is not as good as expected, its okay if we followed the checklist
