A placed image within InDesign contains two elements. The frame and the image contained within the frame. The Selection Tool (Black Arrow) can be used to move and resize the frame while the Direct Selection Tool (White Arrow) can be used to move and resize the image within the frame. To avoid having to switch to the Direct Selection Tool, the Content Grabber, which resembles a donut centred within the frame, can be used to move the image within the frame while still using the Selection Tool.

If designing quickly and especially when using small images, it is easy to accidentally trigger the Content Grabber and inadvertently move the contents of a frame instead of a frame. To turn off the Content Grabber, select the following from the menu…
