When using Free Transform (Command/Control + T) on an object in Photoshop, the corners can be moved individually by holding down Command/Control when moving said corner. The problem with doing this repeatedly is that the bounding box and the artwork no longer align.
Right mouse click on a layer within the Layers panel to convert it into a Smart Object. The contents of that layer are moved into this Smart Object. While the application of something like Free Transform will alter the appearance of said Smart Object, the contents within are unaltered. A big advantage of this situation is that repeated applications of Free Transform will not separate the bounding box from the artwork.
