In order to stop auto update in Windows 10 permanently then let us see how to do it:
If you are using Windows 10 pro then:
Press Windows and R button to open the run dialog box.
The type gpedit.msc to pen the group policy editor.
Under Computer configuration, expand Administrative Templates.
Expand Windows components and then select Windows update.
On the right select Configure automatic updates and double click on it.
Select “Disabled”.
Click on “Apply” and then on “OK”.
This will turn off the auto update in Windows.
If you want to disable auto update in Windows 10 using Windows registry then:
Press Windows and R button to open the RUN dialog box.
Then type regedit to open the registry editor.
Click on “Yes” to open the registry editor.
Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
Right click on “Windows” and then select “New” and then click on “key”.
Name the keyword WindowsUpdate and then press Enter.
Right click on the newly created keyword and then select “New” and then click on “Key”.
Name the new keyword “AU” and press enter.
Right click on the newly created keyword and then click on “New” and then click on Dword(32-bit)value.
Name the new keyword “NoAutoUpdate” and press enter.
Double click the newly created keyword and change the value from 0 to 1.
Click OK and then restart your computer.
