Hey guys!

Since the release of Unreal Engine 5.5 Preview, I've been testing out the main features we'll see when the full release comes in a couple of days and I can say that some of those features are going to be extremely useful for those of us who work in architectural visualization and use Unreal Engine as their main rendering engine.

We'll explore the following:
MegaLights (Experimental) allows you to add hundreds of dynamic shadow-casting lights without impacting performance, plus the use of textured area lights with soft shadows, lighting functions, media texture playback, and more.

Improved performance for Hardware Raytracing

Local Exposure with better illuminance calculation, support for transparency and volumetric effects

Path Tracer is production-ready and now supports Sky Atmosphere and Volumetric clouds.

Vulkan Ray Tracing (Beta) for those of you with AMD graphics cards,

Orthographic rendering is now at the same level as perspective rendering in terms of quality.

Day Sequence, in case you want to show a day sequence in your renders or via blueprint. (Personally, I’d go Ultra Dynamic Sky) but this is nice to have and it’s free.

Local Fog Volume, is a great addition for placing fog where we need it and not the whole scene

Additions to PCG like Spline Meshes, Grammar and more Nodes,

Faster Builds for interactive project

Modelling tools have some improvements, although I still don’t trust 100 for doing models from scratch,

Updated import UI, FBX and improvements to USD Stage (It's more stable)

Improvements to Navmesh and Navlinks, handy for VR;

and more!
