They ALL are tools to help you channel your innate creativity and playfulness which, in my years as a pro composer, I now know are way more important than you think.
Here's the list:
A computer - to store your ideas
A DAW - to record and produce your music
A good (enough) sound card - to get good (enough) audio
A microphone - to capture sounds (can also be good enough)
An instrument - any instrument, for you to use any which way you please
Education - to grow in your skills and abilities
Your wellbeing - to make sure you are always at your best and most creative.
This is one of those lists that feels a bit like a cop-out but the answers to success and creativity are obvious, most of the time we choose to ignore them...don't ignore them any more!
