This video is the audio recording "Heinsohn's Heroes: 1974 Boston Celtics highlights" made by Fleetwood Records and narrated by Johnny Most.
From 1956 through 1969, the Celtics won 11 championships, but with the retirements of Bill Russell and Sam Jones it seemed the dynasty was over.
But with two stellar holdovers in John Havlicek and Don Nelson, general manager Red Auerbach chose Tommy Heinsohn as his coach and began making moves.
On board came Paul Silas, Jo Jo White, Don Chaney, and Paul Westphal, and most importantly, filling Russell's center position was Dave "Big Red" Cowens. It took some time to come together, but in 1974, the Celtics were back where they belonged ... NBA champions after beating the Milwaukee Bucks in the Finals in seven games.
Here are play by play calls, highlights, and interviews as Boston earned its 12th NBA title.
