This is a short video from the June 9, 1974 Major League Baseball game between the Red Sox and the White Sox at Comiskey Park in Chicago, won by Boston, 10-6.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the White Sox' Ron Santo hits an inside-the-park home run off Bill Lee when Red Sox left fielder Tommy Harper conks his head on the wall.
The fantastic clip comes from MLB.com's "Film Room".
Notes: This was the year that Comiskey had an artificial turf infield and a natural grass outfield! ... Slugging Dick Allen, having one of his couple of monster seasons with the White Sox, can be seen shaking Santo's hand at the end of the clip, although they didn't get along well that season ... Yaz wasn't in left; he was playing first base. It looks to me like center fielder Juan Beniquez throws the ball in, with shortstop Mario Guerrero having run there too. The catcher waiting for the throw was not Carlton Fisk, who was DH-ing; it was Bob Montgomery. Fisk would end up catching plenty of games at Comiskey ... Lee outdueled the immortal Skip Pitlock for the win ... Love the peppy musical choice!
