The 76 pays tribute to its earlier version, the Formula 76, but this time, SolidGold has trimmed the fat and delivered only the most useful features in a space-saving enclosure. The 76 does away with the Comp control and the second footswitch that functioned as a tone selector. In this newest version, the two tones are accessible at either end of the texture knob and allows even more control over the midrange and musical chaos.Based on the best attributes of vintage Japanese fuzzes such as the Univox Super Fuzz, Ibanez Standard Fuzz and Ace Tone FM-2, the 76 retains a sickly-sweet sounding fuzz tone with undeniable octave-up overtones, with several switches to adjust everything from the treble content to the clipping arrangement. Interactivity is the name of the game, as the 76 changes character depending on your pickup selection, guitar controls and neck position.
