The Double Barrel packs plenty of firepower into a solitary enclosure, with enough dirt on tap to blow you away. The Double Barrel V4 gives you two distinct dirt flavors that are tuned to stack into one another in either position. The right side of the Double Barrel contains the updated Moonshine V2, which lends a mid-focused drive character to the overall mix. A handy Clean control lets you control the balance between clean and effected signal for a full range of overdrive tones. The Moonshine’s Proof switch kicks the circuit up into medium high gain territory for some screaming leads. The left side of the Double Barrel contains JHS’s Morning Glory V4 circuit, a super-versatile low-to-medium gain overdrive that’s perfect for giving your amp a little kick. A large-sweep Gain control lets you add a good amount of grit, but the action kicks into high gear with the aptly-named Gain toggle, taking the transparent overdrive into the danger zone. For added versatility, the Morning Glory side is equipped with a Hi-Cut switch for smoother stacking and a remote jack to accept the JHS Red Remote, giving you three foostwitchable gain stages. The central toggle is key to the Double Barrel’s arsenal, which allows you to swap the order in which the effects appear. Both circuits have been fine-tuned to run in any order, letting you saturate the second pedal with the first for an endless combination of gain textures. And just like all JHS pedals, the Double Barrel V4 is made right here in the States by real humans.
