The 1968 Premier kit's sounding extra good at the moment and I think the late 60s-early 70s Paiste 602 cymbals sit beautifully with it. I like playing it with Paiste Twenty cymbals too. If the Twenty series have a Champagne kind of sound, the vintage 602s play vlike a good Chardonnay.
Premier '54 kit: 20"/12"/16" (pre-international sizes) 3-ply beech shells, I believe. The snare is a beech shell Royal Ace converted from parallel throw to conventional.
Cymbals: 14" Formula 602 hi-hats, 18" Thin (pre-serial number) 22" medium ride with rivets (factory) 20" Thin with serial no.
Recorded with two older model Tascam field recorders, and a cheap condenser mic plugged into the Nikon D600 DSLR, so it's room sound only.
I just put an EMAD head on the batter side of the bass drum, and the reso. side has a felt strip. Other than that, there is no muffling on any of the drums.
