On 10 November 1991, ITN cameraman Nigel Thomson filmed a woman in Dubrovnik's old city risking her life in order to save her dog, as Soviet-made wire-guided missiles exploded around Dubrovnik's old harbour. The ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage Site was being besieged by the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) during the Croatian War of Independence. Nigel Thomson and ITN's Paul Davies were two of a handful of TV journalists and camera operators who had stayed behind in order to report on the siege of Dubrovnik.
