On 12 December 1967, ITN's Leonard Parkin reported from the Israeli-occupied West Bank, six months after the formerly Jordanian territory was seized by Israel during the Six Day War. Beginning his report on the Allenby Bridge (officially known today as the King Hussein Bridge), Parkin visited the Cave of the Patriarchs in newly occupied Hebron, a holy place in Judaism and Islam. He later visited nearby villages in which Israeli forces had demolished houses allegedly belonging to members of Palestinian resistance organisation Fatah. Parkin interviewed local Arabs about their treatment by occupying Israeli troops and also questioned Colonel Shlomo Gazit, Israel's coordinator for government activities in the occupied territories, about Israeli policy in the West Bank.
