As a general rule, I advise clients to not apply manual formatting to a cell in an Excel Workbook. The one exception, is to format your row headers in a structured data set as Bold.

In this Excel Tutorial, I demonstrate how to apply Conditional Formatting to highlight the cells that meet the condition that marks them as an exceptio - above average, etc.

The beauty of Conditional Formatting is: it does not :stamp specific formatting on a cell! Rather, it only applies temporary - visual - formatting upon a cell!
