Israel's Total Area Excluding The West Bank And Gaza Strip, But Including The Golan Heights Is Roughly 22,072 Square Kilometers. The Country Measures Roughly 430 Kilometers From North To South And Is Roughly 115 Kilometers Wide At Its Widest Point. However At Its Narrowest Point, It Measures Only 15 Kilometers.


Israel Has Four Main Geographical Regions. The Negev Desert, Which Is An Extension Of The Sinai Desert, Covers More Than Half Of Israel's Area And Is Sparsely Populated. The Coastal Plains Are Situated Along The Mediterranean Sea, And Is Home To More Than Half Of Israel's Population. It Includes Major Urban Centres Such As Tel Aviv, Haifa And Ashdod.

The Central Hill Region Lies East Of The Coastal Plains, It Consists Of Mountain Ranges Of Upper And Lower Galilee, Samarian Hills And The Judean Hills. The Samarian And Judean Hills Lies Mainly In The West Bank. East Of The Central Hill Region Lies The Jorden Rift Valley, The Jordan Rift Valley Extends From Northern Israel, All The Way To The Red Sea. It Is An Extension Of The Great African Rift Valley. The Sea Of Galilee, And The Dead Sea, Two Major Lakes Are Situated Within The Jordan Rift Valley. The Jorden River, Which Flows Within The Rift Valley, Forms A Major Part Of The Border Between Israel And Jordan.

Israel Is The Only Jewish-majority State In The Middle East , Surrounded By Predominantly Muslim Countries. This Has Led To Geopolitical Challenges And Conflicts, Including The Israeli-palestinian Conflict, Which Centers Around The Palestinian Territories Of The West Bank And Gaza Strip.
