The Dodge Intrepid is a full-sized (large) front-wheel drive, four-door sedan that was produced by Dodge for model years 1992 to 2004. Until the Intrepid was introduced in 1992, no domestic manufacturer had posed much of a threat to the best-selling Ford Taurus in the mid-size (smaller) family sedan category. While the Taurus remained a strong seller, the Intrepid, with its good looks and commodious cabin, had carved a niche for itself. If interior space was your number one priority in a sedan, the Intrepid was hard to beat.
It can be argued by most car aficionados, that the first generation Dodge Intrepid was an overall better car than the second generation Intrepid. Even though the 1998 Dodge Intrepid (second generation), at even the base model, promised performance unlike any other with two all-new aluminum engines that boost up to 200 horsepower, some Intrepid owners started reporting oil sludge build up which caused engine failure. What do you think? Did the Dodge Intrepid truly live up to its name?
