Chengdu (成都), the capital city of Sichuan Province (四川省) in China, is a vibrant metropolis known for its rich history, cultural significance, and economic importance. With a population of over 20 million as of the 2020 Census, it stands as the fourth most populous city in China. Chengdu is celebrated as the "Country of Heaven" (天府之国) and the "Land of Abundance" due to its fertile Chengdu Plain, which has supported human settlement for thousands of years, including the ancient Sanxingdui culture. The city's history dates back to the Kingdom of Shu and has been a continuous settlement with an unchanged name through China's imperial, republican, and communist eras.

The city's historical and modern attributes make it an essential link between Eastern China and Western China, further enhancing its status as a key economic, cultural, and transportation hub in the country.
