Description:

How to adjust table row height and column width in Word, and why cann't they be adjusted

One. How to adjust table row height in Word

First open Word, and then open a Word document with a table. If there is no such document, create a new blank document and insert a table. The document we opened has a table, see the video.

1. Coarse adjustment

If you want to adjust the row height of the first row, the method is as follows:

Move the pointer to the bottom border of the first row, and the pointer will change into A Two-headed Arrow Pointer. If you want to raise the row height, pull down, and vice versa; we lower the row height and pull it up a little, see video.

2. Precise adjustment

method one:

Click the table, select the "Layout" tab, the "Height and Width" above the "Cell Size" is the height and width of the current cell (the cell where the cursor is located), and change the height from 0.55" to 0.6", press enter on your keyboard or click any blank space, the first row immediately becomes 0.6", see video.

Method two:

1. Position the cursor on one of the cells in the row where you want to adjust the row height, click the Oblique Arrow next to the "Cell Size" in the "Layout" tab, open the "Table Properties" window, select the "Row" tab, " The value behind "Specify height" is the height of the current row, which is 0.6". Change it to 0.5". After clicking "OK", the row height of the first row becomes 0.5", see the video.

There are also three ways to adjust the column width, and they are exactly the same as adjusting the row height. You can refer to the above method for adjusting the row height.

Second. Uniform row height of table in Word

Method one:

1. If you want to unify the row heights of the second to fourth rows of the table. Move the Pointer to the front of the second row, click once to select it, hold down Shift and click in front of the fourth row to select the three rows. Select the "Layout" tab, enter the height of the three rows to be unified after "Height", such as 0.5", press Enter, the height of the three rows will become 0.5", see the video.

2. How many rows to unify the row height, select them, if you want to unify the row height of the entire table, select the table, and then input the unified height according to the above method.

Method two:

If you want to unify the heights of all rows in the table. Click the table, then click the cross with the arrow in the upper left corner of the table to select the entire table, click the Oblique Arrow next to "Cell Size", open the "Table Properties" window, and select the "Row" tab. "Specify height" is grayed out, click to activate it, then enter 0.5", click "OK", all rows of the table have a uniform height of 0.5", see the video.

Third. Uniform column width of table in Word

The method of unifying column width is the same as unifying row height, just to give an example, the specific steps are as follows:

1. If you want to unify the column width of the first two columns. Move the Pointer over the first column, the Pointer changes to A Thick Down Arrow, click once to select the first column, hold down the left button of mouse and move over the second column to select the first two columns. "Width" is blank, indicating that the width of the first two selected columns is not uniform, enter 2.11", press Enter, the first two columns are unified to 2.11", see the video.

2. If you want to unify the width of all columns in the table, select the entire table, and then specify the specific value.

Four. Can't adjust row height in Word table

(1) Row height cann't be adjusted due to Font Size

1. If you want to adjust the first row of the table from 0.4" to 0.3". Click in front of the first row, select it, select the "Layout" tab, the height of the first row is 0.4", change it to 0.3", press Enter, the height is already 0.3", but the height of the first row has not changed. If you change the font size of the first line from 14" to 12", the row height will decrease accordingly, see video.
