On 5 June 1983, ITN's Michael Brunson reported from a Young Conservatives campaign rally in London, where Margaret Thatcher was joined by a host of showbiz celebrities including singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul, world snooker champion Steve Davis, and comedians Jimmy Tarbuck and Kenny Everett. In a speech addressed to the party's youth, the prime minister attacked the Labour Party's election manifesto and referred to Labour as the "no help" party.
