Saved documents can be encrypted with "Protect Workbook", and new documents can be encrypted when saved; In addition, both saved and newly created documents can be encrypted with Save As. Using different encryption methods, the encrypted items are different, and the encryption with "Protect Workbook" can only set the password when opening the document, but not the password when editing the document; When saving encryption, we can set passwords for both. After the document is encrypted, the password may need to be modified or deleted over time, and they operate in much the same way as encryption.

One. How to encrypt Excel file?

(1) Encrypt saved documents, only encrypt the opened password

1. Open the document we want to encrypt, click "File", select "Info" on the left, click the "Protect Workbook" icon, select "Encrypt with Password" in the pop-up menu, open the "Encrypt Document" window, enter the password, click "OK", enter the password again, the password entered twice should be consistent, click "OK", then "A Password is required to open this workbook" prompt appears under "Protect Workbook", indicating that the encryption is successful, press Ctrl + S to save, The next time you open this document, enter the correct password.

2. Encrypt Excel file with shortcut Alt + F + I + P + E.

A. Press and hold the Alt key and press F, I, P, and E once to open the Encrypted Document window.

B. Enter the password and confirm the password, click "Ok", the encryption will be successful, but don't forget to press the Ctrl + S to save, otherwise the encryption will not succeed.

1. Press Ctrl + S to save, open the "Save As" window, select a save file path, such as "F:\Excel", open the "Save As" window, click "Tools" in the lower right corner of the window, select "General Options" in the expanded options, open the window, enter "Password to open" and "Password to Modify" respectively, they can be the same or different, click "OK", and enter "Password to open" again; Then click "Ok", enter "Password to Modify" again, return to the "Save As" window, click "Save", the encryption is successful.

2. With this method of encryption, we need to enter a password when opening the document, and enter the "Password to Modify" when modifying the document, only if the two passwords are correct, we can edit the document. Alternatively, we can set only one of the passwords here.

Note: If there is no save folder listed on the right when you select the save folder "This PC", you can click "Browse", you can also open the "Save As" window, select a save folder, and then encrypt. This often happens when a new installation of Office has not saved an Excel document.

Two. Excel modifies and deletes passwords (Excel password to modify, Excel password remover)

(1) Only modify and delete passwords

1. The method is almost exactly the same as "Encrypt saved documents", select "File" → Info → Protect workbook → Encrypt with password, open the "Encrypt Document" window, select the password and delete, click "OK", then the document password will be deleted ("A Password is required to open this workbook" then becomes "Control what types of changes people can make to this workbook.
"), press Ctrl + S to save, next time open without entering the password.

2. To change the password, delete the old password and enter the new password; The new password should be different from the old password.

(2) Modify and delete, open and modify document passwords

1. After opening the document, select "File" → Save As → browse, open the "Save As" window, click "Tools" on the left side of "Save", select "General Options" to open the Change Password window.

2. Delete both "Password to open" and "Password to Modify".

3. Click "OK", return to the "Save As" window, click "Save", then "Password to open" and "Password to Modify" will be deleted, and we will not have to enter the password when opening and editing next time.

Note: When deleting a password, we do not need to delete both "Password to open" and "Password to Modify", we can choose one of them to delete.

4. If we want to change the password, clear the old password and enter the new password, or we can only modify the "Password to open" or only modify the "Password to Modify", that is, the two do not need to be modified at the same time.
