1) A friend wanted to throw out an old bread bin. But I begged for it, now she demands it back.
I was very glad that my friend still had her strange bread box. They store all sorts of tools in it. They were cleaning out the barn and wanted to throw it out so it wouldn’t take up space.
She happily took it for herself and promised to make candy out of it. When we were kids, we had a single one like this, only the lid was blue.
My hands were itching to start updating the bread bin. There was a lot of work, when I started cleaning it I was even afraid that I couldn’t handle it.
First of all, I used a compressor to blow out all the dust and debris, then doused it with a bucket of water. After this, the amount of work became visible. The lower bottom was rusty and painted in several layers.
All the paint had to be cleaned off. I bought a paint remover and after several stages of cleaning the bread bin appeared in its unpainted form.
Then I scalded her with boiling water. I also sprayed it with Shumavit so that not a single microbe remained, rubbed it with sandpaper, washed it with powder, and smeared it with a rust remover.
The final stage of washing is washing with a Karcher car wash. A powerful jet of water washed away all the stuck particles.
The neighbor just looked out from behind the fence to see what I was doing there, because the sounds were different.
Painting:
I painted it with white spray paint in several layers. As a result of my labors, the bread bin became clean and brand new.
Decorated with an inscription through a stencil with brown acrylic paint.
Pens:
They made it from a wooden plank, with grooves cut out inside, since the lids have convex handles. We drilled holes and screwed in new wooden handles.
When my friend saw her bread box, she began to ask me to give it back, I did so, but in return she promised to find a new old bread box for me.

2) I bought a shabby wooden bread box at a flea market and made candy out of it.
First of all, I applied paint remover to it. The layer of varnish is small and easy to remove. Then I realized that the bread box was collapsible and consisted of sawn parts that, like a puzzle, were assembled into a structure. Only the lid was attached on both sides with screws, due to which it opened, and it also served as a board for cutting bread.
This made the work much easier.
I disassembled the bread box and washed all the parts well with warm water and dishwashing detergent and a metal sponge. All the dirt was washed away. I did this quickly so that the wood did not become saturated with water. As soon as the water had drained and the parts had dried, I placed them on a warm floor under pressure overnight.
Before painting, I sanded the wood, sanded the uneven areas, and filled some places with wood putty.
At first I wanted to varnish it, but then I decided to paint it green and white.
I painted it in three layers. Ordinary paint for interior and exterior use.
I outlined the carved design with a thin brush in opposite colors.
They screwed a beautiful handle onto the lid.
All parts were easily connected together.
Now this is a new stylish thing, and it is not necessary to store bread in it; you can find new uses.
